Philippe Van Parijs is hoogleraar aan de Universiteit van Louvain-la Neuve (UCL), waar hij sinds 1991 de Hoover-leerstoel voor Economische en Sociale Ethiek bezet. Nadat hij jarenlang filosofie aan Harvard University doceerde, is hij tegenwoordig gasthoogleraar in Leuven en Oxford. Philippe Van Parijs is voorzitter van de Internationale Raad van het Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN). Samen met Paul De Grauwe is hij coördinator van Re-Bel (Re-thinking Belgium's institutions in the European Context).
