Gijsbert ter Kuile holds a PhD in comparative constitutional law from University College London, where he was supervised by professor Dawn Oliver. During his research, he worked as a teaching fellow, and convened and taught courses on EU law, and on Introduction to Law. Furthermore, he holds law degrees from the University of Leiden, King’s College London, and the College of Europe (Bruges).
Gijsbert started his career as a litigator in private practice in Amsterdam, Brussels, and The Hague, with Linklaters & Alliance/De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek.

He now works for the Dutch Central Bank in Amsterdam, advising on EU law and especially on the European banking union. He participated in a work stream of the European Central Bank that drafted the SSM Framework Regulation (2014).
He has given many seminars and lectures on the EU banking union and on UK constitutional law. He lectures occasionally on the British legislative process at the Academy for Legislation in The Hague. He intends to specialize further in the field of the EU banking union.
