The edition presents the opera as it was originally conceived, correcting errors found in older editions (regarding music, dialogue, and stage directions) and including unpublished songs and alternative endings. The vocal score is clear and practical as well as scholarly and authoritative, reflecting the editor's experience as a conductor.
