Samenvatting

The edited volume highlights the promising picture of intercultural education based on a commitment to democratic and civic learning by citing single and comparative case studies, teacher practices, innovations, and reflections, that are critical to deconstruct and reconstruct meanings of intercultural education being expressed in classrooms, schools, higher education, and non-formal educational settings today. The book is divided into four sections; section one provides an introduction to the book; section two presents intersectional areas in intercultural and diversity-sensitive education; followed by emerging orientations in research, methods and methodologies on intercultural education and a last section on promising practices and perspectives.

This volume is a selection of best papers presented at the Conference of the International Association for Intercultural Education (IAIE) entitled Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in Education to Transform Society held at the Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany) from March 26-28, 2024. The selection was made by the chairs of the individual sessions and reviewers in order to ensure a high quality of the contributions.
